Hello! I’m Rachael — I am currently enrolled in the Public Relations program at MacEwan. If I’m not at school or working on class projects, you might find me playing around in Photoshop, walking through the river valley trails, or reading a crime novel.
I feel most fulfilled when I am contributing to the community and I knew I wanted to to be a part of the UrbanYEG team after I read its mission statement. I appreciate the focuses on fostering a creative community and giving into the community via mental health initiatives. I am so happy to be able to be a part of the UrbanYEG team and to contribute to this amazing creative community in my own way!
Heyo, my name is Joel Warrington – I’m a freelance photographer, software developer, and student!
I’m looking to make a difference in the Edmonton community by giving back to the creative community while supporting good causes. The UrbanYEG team has provided me with plenty of opportunities to meet new and exciting people interested in photography, one of my passions. I am excited to be on the team to help promote and organize the same events that helped me get out and enjoy this wonderful art. In addition, I want to learn more about the invisible effects mental health issues can have. With this knowledge I hope to impact the people around me in a positive manner!
Hey there! I’m Jana — communications and public education are my bread and butter. I work in a municipal government setting and love what I do. Outside of my day job, I enjoy exploring what our City has to offer and what makes it a great place to live, work and play in! As a life long Edmontonian, I love seeing the way our City is evolving!
I joined UrbanYEG through a friend! I thought it would be a great way to connect with other community-minded individuals, and with such a creative bunch to boot. I look forward to what the future of UrbanYEG holds and putting my skills to good use!
Hey there! My name is Connor and I am on the Community Engagement team at UrbanYEG.
Outside of UrbanYEG I work at Startup Edmonton on the Student Program team, connecting students with our startup community. I also am the co-founder of WAV Capital where I run all of the marketing and HR for Alberta’s only student venture capital firm as well as the Chair of the Enactus University of Alberta Board of Advisors.
Since I graduated I’ve had a lot more time on my hands to get involved in the community, going to events, and seeing all the awesome stuff the creative people in Edmonton can do. This is why I joined UrbanYEG, so I could do my small part in helping the community grow and stay engaged!
Hey! I’m Etienne. Comms guy, designer, tireless Instagrammer.
I’m also an Ontario transplant who moved to Edmonton in April. I quickly found out it’s a city as creative as it is welcoming. I joined URBANYEG in August as their social media specialist — it’s been an absolute privilege curating the never-ending stream of incredible content coming through our #URBANYEG feed.
I grew up and went to school in Ottawa (Public Relations, Algonquin College) then started my career in Toronto (FleishmanHillard HighRoad). For the last four years, I’ve been communications manager for Signatures, where I get to travel all over Canada and tell stories about some of its most creative artists. I see the wave of creativity and culture in Edmonton right now and I’m excited to tell those stories, too.
Some things I love: taking photos, designing in Illustrator, filming and editing video, local art shows and markets, hip-hop history, UFC, and cooking literally anything.
Hello, my name is Kat and I am a member of the Community Engagement team. My professional background is in mental health and I have worked with a variety of populations such as youth, adults, couples, families, and vulnerable populations including those who have been incarcerated or in the sex industry. I have recognized that anyone can benefit from a bit of encouragement and thus have made mental health a priority both in my personal and professional life.
In my role with UrbanYEG I am hoping to incorporate more of a focus on mental health initiatives and to start conversations that normalize the struggles that make us all human with an aesthetic twist.
When I am out adventuring in Edmonton, my friends know me as that ‘extra’ person in trying to capture the perfect moment for my Instagram or always making plans for something to do. I love being a tourist in my own city and just catching up with old friends and new. I am not much of a photographer but I love being a part of a team that I can learn a lot from.
